Victorian Amethyst Diamond Rose of Sharon Gold Pendant -SOLD

Beautiful Victorian “Rose of Sharon” amethyst, diamond and pearl pendant formed of three circular sections; the largest of the three discs is set with an amethyst engraved as a Rose of Sharon set with rose cut diamonds.  It is bordered by an ornate gold pierced surround set with pearls and rope twist edging.  The two smaller pendant sections, also set with amethysts, Rose of Sharon diamonds and pearls are suspended by gold rope twist chains of different lengths.  At the back there is a loop to hook the pendant to a chain.  Tested as 18ct gold.  Weight 18.2gms.  Measurements,  7.5cms from the top of the pendant to the tip of the lowest disc, diameter of the largest disc is 3cms and the two smaller ones are 2cms each.   In Victorian times Rose of Sharon jewellery was very popular and the name, translated from the Hebrew means “flower of the plain” referring to the fertile plain near the coast of Israel.  Our pendant has come from a private collection and is in excellent condition.  It is supplied with a Victorian 9ct gold rope twist chain measuring 38cms.  C.1860
